Anybody who is selling an RV wants to make the sale and may hide information
from you! They want to keep it simple and not add any confusion - so they
neglect to inform you on buying correctly!
As a
Professional Independent RV Consultant, I have perfected my fail-safe system for
most of the last two decades. My expertise is to educate the consumer on
construction, buying, paying
and protecting their investment while, my purpose has been to
protect my clients by guarding them with my step-by-step system on controlling
the deal.
My
main goal here is to mentor and consult you with your legal and financial
interests when purchasing large ticket items such as recreational vehicles.
I’m not here to satisfy the manufacturers, the industry, or the dealerships. I’m
only here to make sure my clients get the best RVing experience possible. You’ll
find that alot of the
sites and books written on RV's are associated with or written by ex- owners,
GM’s, or managers; in other words, industry people. People that are loyal to the
industry and in most cases are still connected to it in one way or another. They
will not have your best interest at heart when it comes to their advice on
purchasing an RV. They could be the enemy!
Now, I’m not going to sit
here and tell you where I attended school or where I worked over the last two
decades. I’m not applying for a job, so you don’t need to read my résumé.
As far as experience - I have worked at some of the largest RV dealerships in
the southwest since 1991.
I’m pro industry because
I grew up camping and I love RVing. – but, I’m pro industry from the standpoint
of loving the RV lifestyle and I want to see it flourish for the right reasons
and for the right values. Most of those values are based within the family unit
and the bonds of friends and family.
Unfortunately, I am embarrassed with
some of the intentional harmful procedures I see in the industry when it comes
to taking advantage of the consumer. They come openly and willingly into the
industry with trust in their heart, and quite frankly, are taken advantage of
and are put in a position of damaging their personal portfolio because of legal,
but morally unethical policies at the dealership.
I always was a rebel when
I was in the industry. When the Saturday morning sales meeting occurred, I was
excused because of what management would call longevity, but it really was
because I would stir up the pot, so to speak. I did not buy into the ‘sell at
all costs’ mentality, because I knew that in some instances this wasn’t in my
clients best interest.
For example, when I first started working as an RV salesperson, I was shocked to
learn that the main focus was not only on making the sale, but with the most
profit allowed by law, and it did not matter what they had to do to get it.
Fact:
You must understand that buying an RV is not simply going to a dealership,
picking a floor plan and color and going out the first weekend and being in RV
heaven. Oh that does happen, (a couple times out of a hundred), but I can offer
you the peace of mind when you go to bed that night that you have put in place
the few contingencies to make sure you came out the stone cold winner it the
deal.
Quite honestly, all RV’s
in alot of ways are the same. You can't reinvent the wheel. There are some
differences that you need to know about on what to buy, but what will be more
beneficial to you is to know how to buy it. Anybody can go in to a dealership
and drop down 15K, 50K, 150K or 500K and sign some papers at the dealership.
Congratulations, any 10-year-old 3rd grader can do that. They already know how
to write their names. That’s all it takes. It doesn’t matter the amount of money
we’re talking about; it can be their piggybacks or your piggy bank. The truth be
told most RV buyers who thought they knew enough to buy an RV end up looking
like they don’t know much more than a 3rd grader when they walk into a buzz saw
hot shot salesman. It’s the smart educated buyer that covers the procedures to
assure that the investment works for them.
You must have all the right information to make sure that you are in the
position to counter every one of their objections, so that in the end of the day
you are on the right end of the deal.

that to your loan amount from the bank, keep it all as profit, and you end up

Let's
say your going to put down a large amount as a down payment...
First, you
would have to put a heck of a lot of money down to make a difference. But, that
means your going to finance a smaller amount with the bank. Good for you, bad
for them. So they change the terms and interest rate to make it good for them
and bad for you. That sounds more like it, doesn’t it? Ever hear of a bank
looking out for you, if it’s going to hurt them? They’ll start by tacking on a ½
point as a penalty for the smaller amount that you’re financing. That amount
also dictates the length of the note. The smaller amount, the shorter the term.
There's another penalty. So you end up with the
same
monthly payment, at a
higher
rate, for a
shorter time.
Please
understand, they
will end up with the same profit margin they wanted, and they
will do whatever it takes to make a predetermined amount of profit
to make the loan worth it to them.
That means you
have to go after the principal, either by using the large down payment against
the principal after the sale or by paying more than your scheduled monthly
payment. That’s the only way to stay ahead of the book. There is no other way to
do it, there is no secret formula, there is no crystal ball. I highly recommend
